The research collaboration began with the recognition of a new, innovative formulation developed by DAIKA. The method utilizes wood waste and, through a unique chemical process (using only water and natural adhesives extracted from wood), produces a material suitable for mass production processes such as extrusion and mold pressing.

During the material research phase, the wood formulation underwent ceramic-like processes, including rolling, wheel-throwing techniques, casting, extrusion, and integration with natural pigments, followed by air drying without any heating process.

Currently, global wood waste is estimated to exceed one billion tons per year. Hundreds of millions of tons of this waste, some of it from urban trimmings, serve as raw material for the formulation.

The research idea originated from the concept of using local raw materials, transforming urban waste into useful, biodegradable products designed to benefit the local community.
